Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) will go into effect on March 17, 2023. The PDPL is the first such kind of data protection law to be passed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which regulates the processing of personal data of Saudi Arabia residents. Thus, businesses and organizations which sell products or provide services in Saudi Arabia will have to comply with the PDPL.
Even if there are many Consent Management Platforms (CMP), they mainly focus on compliance with the GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws of Europe and the USA. Just a few of CMPs provide PDPL compliance solutions. Even if they offer PDPL compliance, it is in English or French, just the Cookie Banner could be translated into Arabic. But Saudi Arabia residents would prefer being informed about cookies and their personal data management in Arabic. So, where to get PDPL compliance in Arabic?
Cookie Consent Banner in Arabic
If your website has one language, which is Arabic, select Arabic as a default language at the Main settings tab, and you will have your cookie popup in Arabic.
If you have a multilingual website, add translations for any additional languages besides the default language. For example, your website's default language could be Arabic, but English could also be selected by a user. In this case, set the default language of your Cookie Consent banner to Arabic, and add English as an additional language for your Cookie Banner. See the guide on how to add new translations.
You will have two cookie banners: one in Arabic, and one in English. The right Cookie Banner will be shown on a website with a particular language. See the guide on language detection for a cookie banner.
With the help of geo-targeting, you could also set it to show different cookie banners for different locations. For example, users from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would see the Cookie Banner in Arabic, and users from Spain- in Spanish.
Cookie Declaration Table in Arabic
CookieScript has also translated a cookie library and all cookie category descriptions in our Cookie Database, which on average can describe and categorize more than 70% of cookies used on the web. Since we offer automatic monthly cookie scanning, there is a high chance that new cookies will be found during a scheduled cookie scanning. Cookie Scanner will automatically apply cookie category and description in all necessary languages, including Arabic.
This means that if you choose Arabic as a default language, or have a multilingual website where one of the languages is Arabic language, your cookie declaration table and all cookie category descriptions will be shown in Arabic.
