What is the difference between a Privacy Policy and a Cookie Policy?

A Cookie Policy is a legal document that provides detailed information about cookies used on your website. The Cookie Policy must be compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws. The Cookie Policy is dedicated to cookies: explains the purpose of the installed cookies, reveals the third parties who install or may install cookies through the website, and provides links to said third parties’ respective Privacy Policy.

A Privacy Policy is a legal document that discloses how a company deals with the website users' personal data. The privacy laws such as CCPA and GDPR also describe how to deal with users' personal data.

Thus, a Privacy Policy is a more general legal document that discloses how to deal with users' personal data, including cookie management. A Cookie Policy could be a part of a Privacy Policy. In this case, if your website already has a Privacy Policy, which includes a Cookie Policy, it is not mandatory to have a separate Cookie Policy.

Use CookieScript privacy policy generator, which also includes a Cookie Policy and helps you to comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
